Aberdeenshire West Schools Receive Sport Awards

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 10 October 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-19382

That the Parliament congratulates all of the schools in the Aberdeenshire West constituency that have received a sportscotland School Sport Award in recognition of their efforts to put young people at the forefront of the decision making and planning about PE and sport in their school, increase pupils' sports opportunities and engagement and put sport at the heart of their planning, practice and ethos; commends Midmar Primary and The Gordon Schools on achieving Gold, Aboyne and Kemnay academies on being awarded Silver and Drumblade and Old Rayne primaries, which each received a Bronze; believes that PE is fundamental in both primary and secondary schools and that motivating young people to participate in and enjoy sport will help to ensure that they are fit and healthy as they grow and mature, and looks forward to the continued success of Scotland's schools working towards achieving recognition by sportscotland.
