The Scottish Parliament hosts a wide range of events and exhibitions, including those that have a direct link to the work of parliamentary committees, and those sponsored by Members. Events may also be held to mark a particular occasion in relation to the functioning of the Parliament, such as the commencement of a new Parliamentary session, or a state visit.

World Press Photo Exhibition 2011 Launch Reception
A guest admires one of the photographs displayed during the World Press Photo Exhibition. 2011 was the 6th year the exhibtion has been on display at the Scottish Parliament. The exhibition ran from Saturday 6th of August until Saturday 27th August and attracted approximately 34,000.

The key aim of the Carers Parliament, held on Monday 1 October 2012, was to bring together carers from across Scotland representing different caring situations to raise the key issues and challenges faced and to share examples of good practice in providing support to carers.

Great Glenrothes Hippo Parade exhibition
The Presiding Officer and exhibition organiser Anna Bluman pose alongside the winning hippo as part of the Great Glenrothes Hippo Parade temporary exhibition. Fibreglass hippos were lovingly decorated by 18 primary schools from Glenrothes then displayed at the Kingdom Shopping Centre.

The annual Donald Dewar Debate took place on 14 June 2012 in the Debating Chamber. The final, chaired by Deputy Presiding Officer John Scott MSP, saw pupils from Craigmount High School take home the winning trophy.
