Remit:
The remit of the Committee is to consider and report on further and higher education, lifelong learning, schools, pre-school care, skills and other matters falling within the responsibility of the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning and matters relating to culture and the arts falling within the responsibility of the Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs.

The Committee reports to the Parliament as follows—
1. At its meeting on 24 June 2014, the Education and Culture Committee considered the Provision of Early Learning and Childcare (Specific Children) (Scotland) Order 2014.
2. The instrument replaced an earlier version, which was laid on 19 May 2014. It was subject to the affirmative procedure.
3. The instrument specifies those children who are “eligible pre-school children”1 and therefore entitled to the mandatory amount of early learning and childcare under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.
4. Aileen Campbell, Minister for Children and Young People, moved motion S4M-10413—
That the Education and Culture Committee recommends that the Provision of Early Learning and Childcare (Specific Children) (Scotland) Order 2014 [draft] be approved.
5. The motion was agreed to (without division).
