Your Say: The Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Over the last couple of years the Welfare Reform Committee’s ‘Your Say’ initiative has enabled the Committee to take evidence from those directly affected by welfare reform. The personal stories the Committee has heard from individuals about their experiences of the Work Capability Assessment, ‘bedroom tax’ and Employment and Support Allowance have provided a valuable insight into the impact of welfare reform on the people of Scotland.
We wish to continue our ‘Your Say’ initiative by offering the opportunity for individuals to share with the Committee their experiences of Personal Independence Payments (PIP). This includes new claimants and those who are changing from Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to PIP. We also wish to hear from individuals and organisations that support PIP claimants.
We are keen to learn about any aspect of your experience of PIP including:
- The PIP claim form
- The PIP assessment process, including where your assessment was conducted
- The Department of Work and Pensions decision on your PIP claim and payment of PIP
Please send your experiences to the Committee, if possible by email to [email protected]. Hard copy responses can be sent to: Welfare Reform Committee, TG.01, Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh, EH99 1SP.
The information you provide will be circulated to Members of the Committee and published on our website. If you wish the information you provide not to be published, please state this when you contact the Committee.
There is no deadline for you to send us your experiences. However, the Committee hopes to hold an evidence session with individuals on their experiences in the autumn. If you wish to be considered for this evidence session it would be very helpful to receive information on your experience of PIP by the end of July.
