Background
The Justice Committee was designated as secondary committee in consideration of the Assisted Suicide (Scotland) Bill. The Health and Sport Committee, as lead committee, issued a call for evidence seeking views on the Bill’s provisions. Evidence
The Justice Committee agreed to focus its evidence taking on the practical application and legal aspects of the Bill, as well as compliance of the provisions with the European Convention on Human Rights. It took evidence from the Law Society of Scotland, the Faculty of Advocates, the Scottish Human Rights Commission, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and Police Scotland at its meeting on 28 October.
