Remit
Occasionally, subject committees will have public petitions referred to them by the Public Petions Committee. These petitions will concern topics covered by the subject committee's remit.
Petition currently being considered by the Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee:
PE1236 - Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to to improve safety measures on the A90 by constructing a grade separated junction where the A937 crosses the A90 at Laurencekirk.
Evidence
The Public Petitions Committee last considered this petition at its meeting on 27 November 2012 and agreed to refer the petition to the Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee (ICI) for further consideration of the issues raised in it, as part of the Committee’s remit.
The ICI Committee considered the petition at its meetings on 12 December 2012, 27 February 2013, 20 March 2013, 17 April 2013 and 12 June 2013.

At its meeting on 17 April 2013, the Committee agreed to write to Transport Scotland and request the outcomes of the meeting between Transport Scotland and partner agencies, and a letter was received from Transport Scotland on 5 June 2013.
Further to this, the Committee received updates from Transport Scotland on 2 July and 29 August 2013:
The Committee considered the letters of 2 July and 29 August at its meeting on 25 September 2013, and agreed to maintain a watching brief.
Transport Scotland wrote to the Committee on 16 December 2013 to advise that consultants had been appointed regarding work on the junction.
On 23 April 2014 Transport Scotland wrote to the Committee regarding the publication of the Laurencekirk safety measures evalutaion report, and to provide an update on ongoing work.
At its meeting on 12 June 2013, the Committee agreed to keep the petition open and maintain a watching brief pending further reports later in the year.
On 22 August 2014, the Committee received an update on the progress of the "Access to Laurencekirk" study.
On 11 November 2014, the Committee received another update on the progress of the "Access to Laurencekirk" study.
On 18 June 2015, Transport Scotland wrote to the Committee with an update on the “Access to Laurencekirk” study by NESTRANs. The Committee considered this update at its meeting on 24 June 2015 and it agreed to keep the petition open pending the outcome of discussions with Transport Scotland and partners in taking forward recommendations made by NESTRANs.
At its meeting on 7 October 2015, the Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee received an update from the Minister for Transport and Islands on progress in relation to the development of a grade-separated junction at the A90-A937 at Laurencekirk.
On 9 March 2016, the Committee received correspondence from Transport Scotland regarding the announcement of the £24 million funding to take forward the design and construction of a grade-separated junction at A90/A937 south junction at Laurencekirk.
