UK Welfare Reform Bill 2011 - Legislative Consent Memorandum

The UK Government’s Welfare Reform Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 16 February 2011. The Bill introduces a wide range of measures reforming the welfare benefit system.

Legislative Consent Memorandum (232KB pdf) was lodged by the Scottish Government in March 2011.

A Legislative Consent Motion was lodged by Nicola Sturgeon MSP on 31 October 2011.

Under Standing Order Rule 9B.3.5 the Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee has been designated as a secondary Committee for the consideration of the Legislative Consent Memorandum (LCM) on the Welfare Reform Bill. Under this Rule the Committee will consider and report on the memorandum to the Health and Sport Committee as the lead Committee.

The Committee will consider its draft report to the lead Committee at its meeting on 23 November,

Evidence

The Committee heard evidence on the Welfare Reform Bill on 26 October 2011 in advance of the supplementary memorandum being lodged on 1 November 2011.
