About The Committee
Welcome to the Local Government and Regeneration Committee webpage.
The role of the Committee is to examine issues which fall within its remit. This includes scrutiny of Scottish Government policy, expenditure and administration in the area of local government, planning and regeneration across Scotland.
The Committee meetings are generally open to the public and convened weekly on Wednesday mornings. The agenda and public papers are made available on our Current Business section. To book tickets contact the Parliament’s Visitor Services Department.
Stage 2 of the Burial and Cremation
(Scotland) Bill is anticipated to be taken at the Health and Sport Committee on
8 March and the Local Government and Regeneration Committee on 9 March.
Confirmation of what sections of the Bill each Committee will consider will be
agreed by Parliament in due course.
The Committee reported on the Bill at Stage 1 on 8 February 2016.

The Committee will take evidence on the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (Designation of Persons as Scottish Public Authorities) Order 2016 [draft]

The Committee will consider the following negative instruments—
Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004 (Remuneration) Amendment Regulations 2016 (SSI 2016/6);
Scottish Local Government Elections Amendment Order 2016 (SSI 2016/7);
Representation of the People (Absent Voting at Local Government Elections) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2016 (SSI 2016/8); and
Local Government Pension Scheme (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2016 (SSI 2016/32).
The Official Report of this meeting is due for publication by 6 pm on Wednesday 17 February 2016.
