Local Government and Regeneration Committee

About The Committee

The Committee was established by the Scottish Parliament on 1st June 2011, and is one of seven subject committees established for the whole period of the 4th Session of the Scottish Parliament (2011 – 2016). The role of the Committee is to examine issues which fall within its remit. This includes scrutiny of Scottish Government policy, expenditure and administration in the area of local government, planning and regeneration across Scotland.

The Committee has seven members, appointed by the Parliament on a cross-party basis. For further information on the membership of the Committee, please see the membership section of the Committee’s webpage.

The Committee determines its own subjects for inquiry and also deals with any proposals for legislation, statutory instruments or petitions referred to it. Further details of the Committee’s work programme can be found on the Current Business section of the webpage.

The Committee normally meets on Wednesday mornings, when the Parliament is sitting, and its meetings are open to the public. The agenda and public papers for meetings of the Committee will be published on the Current Business section of the webpage, normally two to three days before the meeting. The Meeting section of the webpage contains information on previous meetings, as well as the Minutes and Official Reports of meetings.

You can book tickets to attend a meeting, free of charge, by contacting the Parliament’s Visitor Services Department. Committee proceedings are also broadcast live on the Parliament’s website.

You may contact the Committee, via email, at lgr.committee@scottish.parliament.uk or by phoning 0131 348 5223/348 6040.
