Guidance for using the Motions and Questions search

Keyword

Type in a phrase and the search will return results for any of the keywords entered. Use the Exact Word or Phrase Match check box to search for records using the exact phrase only.

Lodging MSP

Current MSPs and Law Officers are at the top of the list, previous MSPs and Law Officers are in the lower part of the list.

Date Range

To enter specific dates, you can type the dates in format 1/6/11 or 1 June 2011, or use the calendar and scroll through to the dates you want.

In the quick search, you can also select a range based on a fixed date period or parliamentary session. For example, Last 24 Hours refers to motions or questions lodged in the last 24 hours. You can also search by session, the period between one general election and the next.

Note: date range currently references the date a motion or question is lodged, and not the meeting date or answer date.

Reference Number

To search for an individual Motion or Parliamentary Question, type the reference number (for example S4M-1 or S4W-2, will return records for S4M-00001 or S4W-00002).  More than one reference can be specified by using a space or comma to separate them.  Wildcards can also be used (for example: S4M-00*20).  To search for a range of records, add an addition number separated by a colon ':'.  For example S4M-10:95 will search for all session 4 motions numbered between S4M-00010 to S4M-00095.
