To ask the Scottish Government what the timetable is for the roll-out of 3D-scanners for use in vehicle accident investigations and when they will be available for each trunk road in the Highlands and Islands.

Answer

Transport Scotland and Police Scotland have been investigating measures to improve clear up times following accidents on the trunk road network. 3D laser scanners are one proposal currently being considered, although no decision on whether to proceed has yet been taken.
