The Friends of the Charlotte Dundas Canal Heritage Trail Plan

  • Submitted by: Angus MacDonald, Falkirk East, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 17 September 2015
  • Motion reference: S4M-14294

That the Parliament congratulates Friends of the Charlotte Dundas on receiving an Awards for All Scotland grant of £5,550; understands that the funding will be used to enable architects to develop plans for a wider capital project to establish a two kilometre-long Canal Heritage Trail from the east end of the Forth and Clyde Canal between the Helix Park and Lock 1, where the canal meets the River Carron; notes what it considers the dedication and drive of the volunteers in promoting the maritime history and traditions of the Grangemouth area, and believes that the award is rightful recognition of both the cultural significance of the project and the efforts of the volunteers to boost local amenities and leisure activities in the process.
