  • Submitted by: Kenneth Gibson, Cunninghame North, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 16 June 2014
  • Motion reference: S4M-10343

That the Parliament welcomes the publication, Arran Bird Atlas 2007-2012: Mapping the breeding and wintering birds of Arran; believes that the book has only been made possible due to the hard work of Dr Jim Cassels, who is the bird recorder of the Arran Natural History Society, and that of over 30 volunteers, along with hundreds of personal bird sighting accounts; understands that the 168-page book is the first account of Arran bird mapping and contains over 36,000 records on 177 species, with more than 400 maps and over 200 photographs; thanks the many photographers who provided photos for the publication and the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club and Arran Trust on their financial backing, and understands that the book will be available for purchase at £8.00 at shops across the Isle of Arran or by mail order by contacting Alan and Jill Hollick of High Kildonan.
