Scottish Samurai Shogun Award

  • Submitted by: Graeme Dey, Angus South, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 30 May 2013
  • Motion reference: S4M-06789

That the Parliament congratulates Jim Millar of Arbroath on receiving what it considers the prestigious Scottish Samurai Shogun Award; notes that the award is given to people who excel in promoting strong links between Scotland and Japan; acknowledges the good work that Mr Millar has done over the last 25 years to promote cultural, educational and sporting relationships between the two countries; recognises that this has been achieved through organising the first ever reception in the Parliament to celebrate Scotland and Japan, helping coordinate the first national cricket tour to Japan and promoting Japanese martial arts at grassroots level in Angus; understands that Mr Millar will be presented with his award at an event in the Parliament later in 2013, and wishes him all the very best in continuing to build important links between Scotland and Japan.
