Cabinet Visit to Shetland

  • Submitted by: Mike MacKenzie, Highlands and Islands, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 25 April 2013
  • Motion reference: S4M-06356

That the Parliament welcomes the decision by the Scottish Government to hold a Cabinet meeting in, and visit to, Shetland on 24-25 July 2013; understands that this will give the residents of Shetland direct access to the First Minister and members of the Cabinet; considers it very important that the residents of Shetland have the opportunity to make their views about local and national issues known in question and answer sessions with members of the Cabinet; hopes that as many Shetlanders as possible take the opportunity to attend the meetings; notes that 2013 will be the sixth year of the Scottish Government holding Cabinet meetings outside the capital, and recognises what it sees as the value of the Cabinet's summer programme.
