Congratulating Haemophilia Scotland

  • Submitted by: Richard Lyle, Central Scotland, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 11 April 2013
  • Motion reference: S4M-06212

That the Parliament congratulates Haemophilia Scotland, which will hold a parliamentary reception at 6.00 pm in Committee Room 1 on World Haemophilia Day, 17 April 2013; believes that Haemophilia Scotland is the pre-eminent association for people affected by bleeding disorders in Scotland; notes the challenges that the organisation faces and acknowledges what it sees as the significant progress that has been made by its management committee since the group was established in 2012; believes that the needs of those with bleeding disorders throughout the country are best met by Scotland-based experts, carers, clinicians and supporters; welcomes the energy, commitment and focus that it considers a separate and autonomous charity brings to furthering the interests of a condition that is too often overlooked, and asks stakeholders from across the health sector, including clinicians, specialist nursing staff, pharmaceutical companies and funding bodies, to work together with Haemophilia Scotland to ensure that the genuinely expressed needs of those affected by bleeding disorders in Scotland are fully met and supported.
