Racist Incidents in Scotland

  • Submitted by: Hanzala Malik, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 13 June 2012
  • Motion reference: S4M-03288

That the Parliament welcomes what it considers the small reduction in the number of racist incidents reported to the police in Scotland for the year 2010-11; expresses concern, however, about the increase in racist incidents in 13 local authority areas, including Glasgow, over the same period; believes the statistics to be no grounds for complacency; reaffirms that racism has no place in Scotland, and considers that all members and the Scottish Government should remain vigilant in tackling racism and hatred in all their forms.
