Tom Morton’s Fairly Long Ride and Fairly Good Show

  • Submitted by: Sarah Boyack, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 12 June 2012
  • Motion reference: S4M-03279

That the Parliament congratulates Tom Morton as he sets out on his Fairly Long Ride to promote fair trade; notes that the challenge will see Tom cycle almost 450 miles between Scotland’s most southerly point, the Mull of Galloway lighthouse, to its most northerly, the Muckle Flugga shore station on Unst, in order to promote Scotland’s efforts toward gaining fair trade nation status; understands that, on stops on the journey in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Tom will perform his Fairly Good Show, which, apart from giving Tom a respite from cycling, is an evening of songs, chat and wine tasting on the theme of fair trade in support of the Scottish Fair Trade Forum; congratulates the work of the forum in campaigning for Scotland to become a fair trade nation, and commends the schools, community groups, organisations, villages, towns and cities across the country whose efforts will hopefully see fair trade nation status for Scotland being achieved in 2012.
