API Foils

  • Submitted by: Neil Findlay, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 28 May 2012
  • Motion reference: S4M-03072

That the Parliament notes the current industrial dispute between workers and management at API Foils in Livingston; considers that the approach taken by the management flies in the face of what it believes to be constructive industrial relations; believes that this has left the workforce with little option but to take industrial action; calls on the company’s owners to recognise the role and legal rights of Unite the Union to negotiate on behalf of its members, and urges them to respect collective agreements that are believed to have proven a success over the years, to withdraw new, imposed working conditions and to get back round the negotiating table in a genuine and constructive manner to  help bring about a negotiated end to this dispute.
