Holocaust Memorial Week, Gathering the Voices

  • Submitted by: Stewart Maxwell, West Scotland, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 24 January 2012
  • Motion reference: S4M-01802

That the Parliament welcomes Glasgow Caledonian University’s project, Gathering the Voices, which collects and records oral histories given by Holocaust survivors; supports the primary focus of the project and its highlighting of the positive contribution of Holocaust survivors to society in Scotland; welcomes the financial support of the Scottish Government and Sense over Sectarianism in addition to what it sees as the invaluable contribution of volunteers to the project, and considers that the launching online of the material during Holocaust Memorial Week is an appropriate way of highlighting the necessity of recording and preserving the experiences of Holocaust victims.
