The Scottish Parliament will hold a Parliament Day in Dumbarton on Monday 24 February, it has been announced today.
During the day’s activities, the Presiding Officer and the Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee will undertake a series of meetings with local organisations and groups. The Committee will also hold a formal Committee meeting where they will take evidence as part of their scrutiny of the Housing (Scotland) Bill.
Announcing Parliament Day Dumbarton, Presiding Officer the Rt Hon Tricia Marwick MSP said:
“Parliament Day is a great opportunity for the people of Dumbarton to meet their local MSPs and to get involved with the work of their Parliament. I am very much looking forward to meeting local people, local groups and to hearing what the people of Dumbarton have to say on the issues affecting their daily lives.
“This is our fifth Parliament Day and the welcome we have received to date from the communities we have visited, and the enthusiasm of the local people to make their views heard, has been incredibly impressive. I am sure Dumbarton will be no different and I hope people will take advantage of having the Parliament on their doorstep for the day.”
Convener of the Infrastructure and Capital Investment Committee Maureen Watt MSP said:
“Hearing from local people about the issues that matter to them is important for every parliamentary committee. For my Committee, which looks at infrastructure services that people and businesses rely upon every day such as broadband, roads, a place to live, this is particularly important to us.
“The Housing (Scotland) Bill currently going through Parliament has implications for landlords, letting agents, those who rent their homes and those who own mobile homes. I look forward to meeting with and hearing from people from in and around Dumbarton on the bill as it is our job to represent them in the work of the Parliament.”
