The first Carers Parliament will be held at the Scottish Parliament on Monday 1 October. The day will bring together over 180 carers from every constituency in Scotland.
This is the first time in the UK that carers and young carers from across Scotland have had the opportunity to come together with MSPs and organisations such as COSLA, NHS 24 and the Association of Directors of Social Work to raise the issues that most impact on their lives.
The day will be chaired by Deputy Presiding Officer Elaine Smith MSP and consist of a debate in the Chamber with contributions from carers.
Health Secretary Alex Neil MSP and Minister for Public Health Michael Matheson MSP will address delegates.
MSPs from across Scotland will lead workshop sessions with carers on the issues that matter to them including the financial impact of caring and carers rights.
