Presiding Officer Tricia Marwick MSP today outlined the Scottish Parliament’s plans to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Mrs Marwick will be in London today to attend events in Westminster, when both Houses will present addresses to Her Majesty, before unveiling a commemorative stained glass window in Westminster Hall.
Before leaving, she confirmed that the Scottish Parliament will hold a special debate on The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in May.
In addition the Parliament will present a photographic record of The Queen’s visits to the Scottish Parliament to Her Majesty during Holyrood Week in July.
The Presiding Officer Tricia Marwick MSP said: “The Scottish Parliament has welcomed Her Majesty The Queen many times, including during our 10th anniversary celebrations, and we have decided to capture this relationship in our gift to her.
“It is also a fitting occasion for the Parliament to institute a debate in Her Majesty’s honour to mark her 60 years as Monarch.”
