Purpose of the group
1. To act as a channel of communication between the Scottish Parliament, disabled people and organisations working or supporting disabled people.
2. To provide opportunities for Members of the Scottish Parliament to learn about needs of disabled people and the barriers individuals face excluding them from performing an active role within society.
3. To increase awareness and raise the profile of rights for disabled people.
4. To put disability on the agenda of the Scottish Parliament.
The Cross-Party Group on Disability is holding elections for office bearers by email. The positions for which elections are to be held are Convener, Deputy-Convenor and Secretary. The current office bearers Michael McMahon MSP - Convener, Siobhan McMahon MSP and Annabelle Ewing MSP - Deputy-Convener and Quarriers (Helen Hunter) Secretary, are happy to stand again.
