I am a director, as is my wife, of Carrick Court Associates Ltd, a consultancy business. Carrick Court Associates receives remuneration of £10,000 per annum for my work from GovNet Communications (as Chairman of the Editorial Board). As a Director of Carrick Court Associates I estimate that I will receive between £3,001 and £5,000 per annum in expenses and dividend. I attend 6 - 8 meetings per year in relation to the consultancy. Carrick Court Associates received £36,000 per annum for my work for Eversheds LLP. This work ceased on 30 April 2009 and no payments have been made by them from 1 May 2009. [Registered 24 May 2007, Amended interest 4 July 2007, Amended interest 13 July 2007, Amended interest 26 May 2009]
On 3 May 2007 I ceased to be a consultant representing the interests of coal producers for the Confederation of Coal Producers (COALPRO) of Confederation House, Thornes Office Park, Denby Dale Road, Wakefield WF2 7AN, West Yorkshire. I previously received remuneration of between £5,000 - £10,000. As I do not consider that this interest meets the prejudice test, I consider this to be a ceased interest. [Registered 24 May 2007, Amended interest 4 June 2009, Ceased interest 4 June 2009]
I am a Member of the House of Lords for which I receive no salary but, on the basis of two years’ experience, estimate that I will receive per annum allowances and expenses of between £30,001 and £35,000 for overnight and day subsistence and office costs and between £10,001 and £15,000 for travel to and from London. I undertake this work whenever my Scottish Parliament and constituency duties allow. [Registered 6 July 2007, Amended interest 23 July 2007, Amended interest 24 September 2009]
I contributed a weekly column on football to the Edinburgh Evening News, a newspaper company, of 108 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8AS. I began this work in mid January 2008. I did not retain any of the remuneration of between £5,001 and £10,000 per annum which was given to support youth sport in the Lothians, as well as providing technical support in producing the column. As of 25 May 2009, I am no longer writing this weekly column and therefore consider this to be a ceased interest. [Registered 31 January 2008, Amended interest 1 May 2008, Amended interest 26 May 2009, Ceased interest 26 May 2009]
