Festival of Politics 2012: Get the Picture! event at the Scottish Parliament
Saturday 25th August 2012
THANK YOU!! To all the groups who travelled from all over Scotland to make this year's event a success! You decorated the Garden Lobby with your creativity and views on positive change, brought the Parliament alive with your energy, music and zumba moves and of course spoke out in the Chamber to have your ideas on how to tackle various issues in a challenging debate. We also loved your tweets - keep in touch :)
Lauren Currie and Sarah Drummond, co-Directors of Snook did an amazing job at chairing the debate which focussed on 3 following topics chosen by the groups. here's the results from the debate:
Topic 1
“Young people would be more able to make positive change to challenge negative stereotypes of young people if the voting age was lowered to 16 years of age” RESULTS: Yes 74 No 19 Don't Know 3
Topic 2
"Everyone, regardless of age, deserves to be paid a fair living wage" RESULTS: Yes 58 No 28 Don't Know 6
Topic 3
"Those who commit anti-social behaviour offences in town centres should be banned from them for three weeks" RESULTS: Yes 18 No 68 Don't Know 9
We worked in partnership with the Scottish Youth Parliament , YoungScot, Snook and Fife Youth Radio who all did an amazing job at helping us create one of our best events yet - thank you so much!
Although this event may seem long ago now, it's never too late to let us know your views on it and feedback. We really like hearing from you as we use your comments to help us shape future events :)
What did you think about this year’s theme of ‘Positive Change’? Even if you weren't able to come to the event please keep telling us your ideas and innovative solutions for issues that matter to you.
