Motions and amendments are normally printed the day after they are lodged. If an amendment is lodged to a motion then the original motion will appear alongside the amendment, along with any support lodged that day, in this section.
Each Monday, this section also contains all motions and amendments lodged the previous week that are still live and any motions and amendments that have been lodged for debate in the coming week. A motion or amendment is live if it has not been debated, withdrawn or otherwise deleted from the list.
Where a motion or amendment has been withdrawn, it is indicated in this section the day after it has been withdrawn. Support for motions and amendments received after they are lodged is shown at the end of this section the day after such support is received.
Motions and amendments can be published with various symbols
- Asterisks before the motion or amendment number indicate a motion or amendment published for the first time
- Asterisks also identify alterations to the text of a motion or amendment made since it was first published
- A hash symbol identifies motions eligible for debate at Members’ Business
- A diamond symbol identifies motions lodged for Members’ Business that have not yet attracted the required cross-party support
- An "R", identifies motions or amendments in which the Member who lodged it has a registrable interest.
The Parliamentary Bureau periodically deletes motions or amendments not scheduled for debate and which are over six weeks old.
Any questions in relation to this section should be directed to the Chamber Desk
New and altered motions and amendments
*S4M-01039 Sarah Boyack: International Debt Week—That the Parliament congratulates Jubilee Scotland on organising the People’s Debt Tribunal event in the building on 5 October 2011; considers that this event illustrated the need for a fair and transparent process to deal with the growing problems of global debt; commends Jubilee Scotland for its Defuse the Debt Crisis campaign, which is calling for Scotland to promote itself as a seat of arbitration for dealing with unpayable poor country debt; understands that from 8 to 16 October organisations, people and jubilee groups from across the world will mobilise for what will be known as a Week of Global Action Against Debt and International Financial Institutions, and encourages people across Scotland to play a leading role in finding an answer to the problems of unjust debt.
*S4M-01038 Fiona McLeod: World Day Against the Death Penalty—That the Parliament notes World Day Against the Death Penalty on 10 October 2011; opposes the death penalty as a cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment that violates two fundamental human rights; welcomes the work of Amnesty International and others to highlight this issue; urges the minority of countries that regularly execute and defiantly resist the clear global trend toward abolition, to end this practice, and looks forward to the day when the death penalty has been abolished by every country across the world.
*S4M-01035 Margaret Burgess: Pennyburn Regeneration Youth Development Enterprise—That the Parliament congratulates the board and the shadow board of Pennyburn Regeneration Youth Development Enterprise (PRYDE), Pennyburn’s volunteers and their partner agencies and funders on transforming the former New Penny pub into a youth centre and community hub in Pennyburn, Kilwinning; applauds what it sees as the exemplary efforts and perseverance over more than 10 years of the Pennyburn community and its partners in purchasing the building, working with architects and designers to secure funding from the National Lottery, Children in Need and others, obtaining appropriate planning permission and then bringing the project to fruition; hopes that the new centre will enable the whole community to develop new skills, access information and advice and that it will build community spirit among people of all ages for many years to come, and wishes the project and the Pennyburn community every success.
