That the Parliament notes what it sees as the overwhelming public support shown by the people of Inverness for the 1st Battalion Scots Guards during their homecoming parade in Inverness on 30 May 2013; understands that Inverness and the Highlands have a long association with the Scots Guards, with at least 35 currently serving guardsmen originating from this area, and considers that this pride is borne out, not only by the warm reception given to the battalion at the parade, but also by the support given to the troops during their recent operation in the Upper Gereshk Valley, Afghanistan.

That the Parliament congratulates the butcher's, Duncan Fraser & Son, from Inverness on winning one of four diamond awards at the 2013 Scottish Meat Trade Fair held in Perth; understands that the rare diamond award was given for the butcher's beef, tomato and onion sausages after the owner, Duncan Fraser, asked staff to produce a new entry for the premium beef sausage awards, organised by the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association, which received over 120 entries, and notes what it considers the innovation and dedication by Duncan Fraser & Son, which employs 16 staff at its city centre shop in Queensgate, Inverness, and, in particular, the butchers, Jeff Macdonald, Donald McIntyre and Mark Russell, who have been credited with the win, all of whom have been employed by the business for over 20 years.

That the Parliament welcomes the two-year EU-wide ban of neonicotinoids; understands that there is insufficient evidence at present to determine the exact effects of neonicotinoids on pollinators; asks the Scottish Government to support further long-term research and field studies into the effects of neonicotinoids on all pollinators, to urge agrochemical companies to make publicly available the results of their risk assessment trials for all their products, including neonicotinoids, to invest in the long-term monitoring of pollinator populations that, it understands, provide an estimated £400 million to the UK economy per year and to support the adoption of best practice in the use of alternative pesticides by farmers; understands that it has been established that the continued decline in flower-rich habitats is the primary reason for pollinator decline, and asks that the Scottish Government support the creation, restoration and management of habitats for pollinators.

That the Parliament welcomes the Black Isles Brewery's introduction of its Pollinator Heather Honey Beer; understands that the pale, straw-coloured blonde-style beer is brewed with organic malt, hops and Highland heather honey; notes that 10 pence from the price of every bottle goes to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust; understands that the donation will help support what it considers the valuable work of the trust in protecting the threatened UK bumblebee population which plays a vital role in pollinating food crops and native flowers, and encourages organic farming and brewing methods as a means to stop the destruction of bees and their native habitat by intensive farming practices.

That the Parliament congratulates Ainya Taylor, who has been appointed as the Highland Youth Convener; recognises what it sees as the unique position of youth convener in High Life Highland and the Highland Council as it allows young people to have a voice in council decisions and hold voting rights in relevant committees; understands that Highland is the only council area in Scotland that has a full-time, paid, dedicated youth representative to work alongside young people, Highlands Youth Voice, councillors and partner organisations and who provides a dedicated link for elected officials and others who wish to seek the views of young people; wishes Ainya success in the role, and would welcome councils across Scotland taking steps to introduce similar roles to help give young people a voice in local government.
