Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Grangemouth Choral Society

  • Submitted by: Michelle Thomson, Falkirk East, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 28 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12685

That the Parliament celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Grangemouth Choral Society; understands that the choir was formed in April 1954 by members of the former Dundas Parish Church, who joined together based on their passion for music and a desire to share this with the wider community; further understands that the choir’s repertoire has evolved over the decades to include an eclectic mix of music, including disco hits, 1980s anthems, show tunes and choral pieces; congratulates the group for what it sees as the important role that it plays in sustaining part of the town’s heritage and enhancing a sense of community amongst its members, and wishes the choir’s 35 members, its musical director, Elaine Finlay, and its accompanist, Stephanie Moyes, all the best for their anniversary concert at Bowhouse Community Centre on 20 April 2024, and thereafter.
