Petition by Dr Godfrey Joseph calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to ensure that every NHS board has the structure, funding and capability to provide speedy, accurate and appropriate translation and interpretation services for patients and their families and that such services are consistent across every NHS board.

1 December 2009 :   The Committee took evidence from Dr Godfrey Joseph, Malcolm McCarthy and Daniella Rotariu and agreed to write to the Scottish Government, NHS Health Scotland, Department of Health and the Welsh Assembly Government, a selection of NHS boards (Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Grampian, Borders), Scottish Patients Association and the Equalities and Human Rights Commission Scotland seeking responses to the points raised in the petition and during the discussion. <Link to Official Report 1 December 2009
