Salary Range: £32,064 to £38,984

The Parliament has a full and varied temporary exhibitions and events programme, including a number of exhibitions curated in-house or developed in partnership with a key lender. Artwork can be seen throughout the parliament and adds another dimension to the building, in line with the original intention that the Parliament should embody the unique spirit and character of the Scottish nation. The Art collection represents 60 of Scotland’s artists and craftspeople and comprises of paintings, sculpture, photography, textiles and installations.
You will provide a professional curatorial service for the development and delivery of temporary public exhibitions and will be responsible for the management of the Scottish Parliament’s Art Collection. One of the main focuses of this role will be the research and development of two upcoming temporary exhibitions.
You will have substantial experience in a museum/gallery/heritage/visitor centre environment working on exhibitions development and collections management. You will have an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject such as the history of art or fine art and knowledge of Scotland’s artists and/or makers. A postgraduate qualification in museum studies, heritage management or museum interpretation is essential. You must be able to demonstrate a full range of professional skills along with strong planning and organisational skills. You will need well-developed communication and influencing skills able to work with a wide range of stakeholders as well as being an effective and supportive team worker. You must be able to work in a political environment with good decision making skills and an awareness of how your role can affect the wider organisation.
