The Standards Commission for Scotland is committed to the promotion of high ethical standards in public life through the promotion and enforcement of Codes of Conduct for Councillors and those appointed to the Boards of devolved public bodies.
The Parliamentary corporation is seeking to appoint, with the agreement of the Scottish Parliament, a new Commission member. Working at least 24 days per year you will be required to attend Commission and sub-committee meetings to ensure the effective running of the Commission and to conduct Hearings (as a member or the chair) into alleged breaches of the Codes. In addition to having high levels of integrity, discretion and probity, you will also have the ability to absorb and analyse information to reach sound and impartial judgements.
The salary will be £5,712 for 2 days per month. This appointment is for a fixed term of 6 years.
The Standards Commission is based in Edinburgh.
