AUTOMATIC COMMENCEMENT OF MATERNITY LEAVE

Pregnancy-Related Illness

27. Your period of Maternity Leave will start automatically if you are absent from work due to a pregnancy related illness after the beginning of the fourth week before your due date.

Childbirth

28. Your period of Maternity Leave will start automatically if you have your baby before your Maternity Leave period is otherwise due to commence. In such circumstances, your period of Maternity Leave will commence on the day after childbirth. You should notify the HR Enquiry Service as soon as reasonably practicable after your baby is born.
